Credential recognizes the highest standard in Alzheimer’s and Dementia education and care

Panama City Beach, Fla. – Charter Senior Living of Panama City Beach, the area’s leading senior care community providing independent living, assisted living and memory care services, has completed the training to certify its entire care staff and management as Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). In total, 14 of the community’s assisted living staff were presented the certification.

Charter Senior Living of Panama City is the only community in the area with all care staff and management trained and certified with this credential. Charter Senior Living recognized the fact that continuing education, professional development, and specialized certification are essential for today’s health care professional and front-line staff as the dementia elderly population continues to rise.

The CDP is the earned credential that recognizes the highest standard in Alzheimer’s and Dementia education. The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) ensures the highest standards in Alzheimer’s and Dementia education through the Certified Dementia Practitioner certification process.  The CDP certification demonstrates the achievement of specialized training in the areas of Alzheimer’s and Dementia care.

“The benefits of CDP certification are numerous to the team at Charter Panama City Beach,” said Michael Brown, Health and Wellness Director of Charter Senior Living of Panama City. “Those who have taken the steps to complete comprehensive training and have completed certification have the necessary educational tools to provide care to Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. These health care professionals have added learning and understanding of the Dementia patient and complications that arise with such a diagnosis.”

“This certification reflects the entire team at Charter Senior Living of Panama City’s deep personal commitment to enhancing the quality of life and quality of care provided to our memory care and dementia residents,” said Joy Wegand, Memory Care & Programming Specialist for Charter Senior Living, who is also a CDP. “Every element of our care affects the quality of life residents experience with us, which is why it was of utmost importance for our entire Charter Panama City team to have been awarded the CDP certification.”
