During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Charter Senior Living is making a difference. As one of the nation’s leading senior living providers, we’re proud to help share this message of breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection every October.
Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer in American women, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. About 30% of all new cancer diagnoses in women in 2022 will be breast cancer. In the United States, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, making regular screenings and early detection essential steps in a woman’s preventive health care.

Charter Senior Living’s Pink Out Events
In October, Charter Senior Living communities around the country host their Bras for a Cause “Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness Month” event.
The event aims to lift the spirits of those affected by breast cancer by wearing pink and enjoying pink snacks, drinks and activities. Donations of new or gently used bras in all colors and sizes are welcome in advance of the event. Upon the event day, these serve as decorations and later are donated to local human services nonprofit organizations.
As well as raising funds during October and donating them to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Pink Out events will be held throughout the month at Charter communities. Along with a pink lemonade stand, pink cotton candy, and all-pink apparel, all Charter Senior Living communities create unique events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, showing national support for this important cause.
If you would like to help with Pink Out events in the future, contact a nearby Charter community to see how you can get involved.
